The results of field studies conducted in 2009-2011 are presented. In 20 small cities of the Russian Federation. In the first part of the book, from the standpoint of social anthropology, a generalized picture of people’s lives in the small provincial city is given. In some chapters, data are analyzed and conclusions are drawn for each of the studied cities. In conclusion, the results of a three -year study were summed up.
