As you know, the combat aircraft is most vulnerable on Earth and take -off, and expensive runways is almost the main article of the expenses of modern Air Force and the primary goal for enemy aircraft. Therefore, aircraft designers have fought over the problem of vertical take -off for decades, but it was possible to solve it only by mastering the technology for managing the traction vector, on the basis of which the first mass -produced SVVP – the British Harrier and the Soviet Yak -38 were created. Very similar in appearance, these aircraft of vertical take -off and landing had a completely different fate. Having passed a long evolution and turning from a clumsy “jump” into an effective combat vehicle, Harrier made his debut during the Falkland conflict, took part in many local wars, from the Persian Gulf and Afghanistan to the Balkans, and still remains in the ranks. Unlike the Yak-38, which took to the air later than its western counterpart, but was removed from weapons by the beginning of the 1990s. Why did his service turn out to be so short? …
