Since the middle of the 15th century, Venice has become a symbol of service to art. Stability and wealth, the position of Venice in the “center of the world” and the opportunity to draw from the West and East, the north and south, the past and the present are the features that influenced the Venetian picturesque tradition. The local artists did not form theoretical concepts, did not bow to the ancient heritage … But they developed their picturesque techniques, their principles of vision and images of the world. The Venetians loved Byzantine luxury, lush forms, the splendor of gold and expensive fabrics, the whole material world, they passionately, without a trace were given to sensual pleasure in life. The most important thing for them is the ratio of colors, and all of them, without exception, were brilliant colorists.
