He dreamed of becoming a teacher and an agronomist, and graduated from a theological seminary and a military school. The former seminar went through two wars, the First World and Civil, successfully established himself on the command path, but found his place in headquarters. During the Great Patriotic War A.M. Vasilevsky quickly rose to the top of the military Olympus. Being a bright representative, the so -called “Shaposhnikovsky school”, he successfully led the “brain of the army” – the General Staff, who resolved the issues of training and use of the armed forces during hostilities. Marshal Vasilevsky also showed the remarkable talent of the commander, master of training, planning and conducting strategic and front -line operations.
In the book based on a wide range of documentary sources and previously published literature, the creative laboratory of Marshal A.M. is considered Vasilevsky, his contribution to achieving the victory over Nazi Germany and militaristic Japan, to strengthen the defense capabilities of the Soviet Union.
