Unknown Shakespeare. Who, if not he: George Brandes

For a long time, the opinion that Shakespeare was not the creator of his great dramas, and there are no numbers to hunters to attribute the honor of their creation to other persons. Over a century and a half of the existence of disputes and discussions, dozens of hypotheses have been put forward, questioning the existence of a medieval genius, about which we still do not know the whole truth.
In the vast Shakespearean, the book of George Brandes occupies a special place. In contrast to other studies, it opens the reader with the inner life of the poet and playwright, reflected in his works. Brandes has a story of Shakespeare’s artistic work of Shakespeare, nothing more than material for characterizing his personality. The author himself defined the task of his work as follows: “Shakespeare does not represent only a collection of 36 dramas and several poems; this is a person who felt and thought, rejoiced and suffered, dreamed and created.” We add that this book is read as the most fascinating historical novel, from which it is difficult to break away.
