The book dedicated to the 250th anniversary of Moscow University consists of a brief introduction and 18 chapters, each of which represents an outline of life, scientific, pedagogical and social activities of large scientists who played an important role in the creation and development of the geological school of the oldest University of Russia.
The first section of the book considers the origin and formation of this school, related to the names of the founders-the natural scientist of the wide profile, academician Fisher von Waldheim, the geologist-professional of Shchurovsky, the evolutionary paleontologist V. Kovalevsky and the statigram and the paleontologist of the academician A.P. Pavlov. The subsequent sections of the books are devoted to the life and scientific and pedagogical activity of the most striking representatives from the numerous students of A.P.
