The book of the memoir prose of the outstanding film director Grigory Mikhailovich Kozintsev includes his thoughts on culture, about cinema and Shakespeare, whose work he considered it unsuccessful. A significant part of Kozintsev’s literary heritage are his workbooks, which he led in 1940 – 1973. In excerpts from notebooks, both everyday events on filming and stage venues are captured, and the thoughts of time and the purpose of art.
The final section of the book “Black, dashing time …” included diary entries of 1948 – 1965, not included in the 5 languid collected works of Kozintsev, published in 1984.
