Javier Marias is a modern Spanish writer, literary critic, translator, member of the Spanish Academy of Sciences. His books were translated into dozens of languages (in Russian the novels “White Heart”, “At the hour of battle tomorrow, remember me” and “All Souls”) and were awarded the largest international and national literary awards. So, only in 2011 he received the Austrian State Prize
In European literature, and his last novel of “Love” was awarded to the National Prize of Spain in literature, which H. Marias refused to be a number of good reasons. In addition, the same novel by the leading critics of the country was called the best book of the year. We add that Marias is one of the very few Spanish -speaking authors whose works are included in the Modern Classics series Penguin Books (along with the texts of Garcia Lorca, Borges, Neruda, Garcia Markes and Octavio Pas).
