Thomas Gainsboro: Yuri Astakhov

Thomas Gainsboro belongs to the most beloved English painters. This is “to blame” not only professional, but also the human qualities of the artist. He was not a pure self -taught, but did not receive a systematic art education. Thanks to the innate feelings of style and color and acquired ownership of a brush, with general giftedness, Heinsboro became one of the largest and, most importantly, distinctive masters of Europe. The portrait genre has become the main thing in his work. The artist worked a lot, took part in the annual exhibitions of the Society of Artists. He was one of the founders of the Royal Academy of Arts. Gainsboro created hundreds of portraits (among them are mandatory – portraits of his children and spouses, as well as members of the royal family).
The painter has a difficult relationship with the president of the Academy of Arts by the famous portraitist J. Reynolds. But for him, the main thing is work.
