Ilya Mikhailovich Kartavtsov (1895-1971) – genealogy, bibliographer, necropolitanist, local historian, bibliophile, author of the famous bibliographic book “The estate of the Moscow province …” (1927, reprints. 1992). The published fragments of memoirs and correspondence give an idea of the vast literary and epistolary heritage of the author. For the first time, the preserved heads of the memoirs of I.M. Kartavtsov about the excitement – a generic estate in the Tula province, destroyed in February 1918, his essay “Tyutchev and Fet as a teacher of life”, impressions of communication with V.A. Gilyarovsky, V.V. Veresaev and other writers. The book also included the memoirs of sister I.M. Kartavtsova, who, among other things, talks about the camp period of the life of Ilya Mikhailovich: 27 years spent in prison barbed wire and in the northern exile. The epistolary part is represented by letters to the local historian V.M. Rudnev dating back to the second half of the 60s. XX century.
