The book is an epistolary diary of the great Russian writer Viktor Petrovich Astafyev. A diary composed of several hundred of his letters, almost daily from year to year sent to his relatives and friends, brothers in Peru, beginners, publishers and editorial offices of literary magazines. The life of the outstanding master of the word for fifty years was reflected in them with marginal sincerity and frank directness: his joy and grief, victory and loss, the depth of the spiritual world and the secrets of the creative laboratory of prose writer. In them, the suffering thought and the woeful thoughts of the son of his Fatherland about the fate of his long -suffering homeland and its people, the great particle of which he was.
Most of the letters of Viktor Astafyev are published for the first time.
