Edward Lear (1812 -1888) – recognized classic, ancestor of the absurd poetry, illustrator of his own books. Like his younger contemporary Lewis Carroll, he had a huge impact on the development of literature, and not only English. His paradoxes and riddles are fascinated by many generations of readers. Perhaps it would not be an exaggeration to say that the world learned about England as a country of great eccentrics from Lyr. Or maybe she became such as not to lag behind his fantasies? The book was prepared on the basis of the only, very rare lifetime publication of Lyra Lira with its own color drawings, printed in the lithographic way.
The original layout developed by the author is most preserved. And Sergey Task translated, or rather, overcoming the Limerns so that both children and adults will be happy to read them.
