The book is devoted to the new question of the role of the Japanese engraving of the XVIII-XIX centuries of the Ukye school in the creative practice of masters of the St. Petersburg Association “World of Art”. It was considered on the example of the creative and collector’s activities of Anna Ostroumova-Labedeva, Alexander Benois, Konstantin Somov, Mstislav Dobuzhinsky and Ivan Bilibin, which made it possible to identify the features of the perception of the Japanese engraving and the form of impressions of it each of these artists and thus trace the previously known ways of the formation of modern art in Russia.
