In the second volume, translations of dramaturgy and poetic works created in the XVIII century are presented. Each section is divided into four chapters, respectively, the periodization adopted during the consideration of the history of Russian literature of the XVIII century.
The translation of lyrical texts had their own characteristics: most of them were then carried out by prose, but still many poetic translations belonging to Per Kantemir, Sumarokov, Trediakovsky and Lomonosov were created.
In the translations of plays intended for the court theater or public theaters, the so -called “declension on Russian morals” was practiced, i.e. The election of the text of the play to the horizons and the location of the domestic public.
The basis of each chapter is a review of the translations of works for the corresponding period (ancient Rus’, the era of Peter I, Catherine II, 1760-1780, the end of the century).
