The Balkan knot, or Russia and the “Yugoslav factor” in the context of the policy of the great powers in the Balkans in the XX century.
The book shows the historical role of Russia (USSR) in the Balkan region during periods of the most acute international confrontation and wars of the 20th century, especially during the First and Second World Wars, as well as in modern conditions. Little-known documents reveal the discussion problems of Soviet-Yugoslav military-political relations in a new way, including those related to the role of I.V. Stalin, I. Broz Tito, W. Churchill and other politicians. A significant place is reserved for the issues of traditional Russian solidarity with the peoples of the Balkan countries, including the provision of the military assistance of the USSR by the liberation struggle of the peoples of Yugoslavia in 1941-1945; Combat Commonwealth, examples of heroism and exploits of the soldiers of the Red Army on the Yugoslav land. The role of the Russian Federation is shown in the resolution of the modern Yugoslav crisis at the turn of the XX-XXI centuries.
