This publication will help the reader present a picture of life and the prayer feat of those whose life in different years was associated with the Optina Desert. The book contains the biographies of students and contemporaries of the Monk Elders of Optinsky, both previously published and first published. The texts are compiled by various authors, one of which is Archimandrite Nicodemus (Kononov), a well -known pre -revolutionary hagiograph, later Bishop Belgorod, who accepted the martyrdom in 1918 and now glorified in the face of saints. He compiled the biographies of Jeroschimonah Flavian (Malenkova), the treasurer of the Optina desert, Schiarchimandrite Nicodemus (Demier), an experienced spiritual leader and shepherd, Vasily Brahuzin, a fool who had close ties with the monastery, and many other remarkable ascetics.
The biographies of the inhabitants of the famous senior monastery of the monk Gabriel (Domogatsky) and the novice of Nikolai Ivanov are printed for the first time.
