Tamerlan, Timur, Temir Aksak … This person has many names, but even more images. For some – he is the patron saint of scientists and a wise ruler, for others – a fierce invader and a cold -blooded killer. Tamerlan conquered many countries, founded a huge empire and erected the pearl of Asia – Samarkand on the ruins of past centuries. But the peoples, on whose land, his army walked, saw the personification of death in him, his empire was created by fire and sword, and Tamerlan built not only majestic buildings, but also towers of tens of thousands of severed heads. For Uzbeks, whose current state includes a significant part of Maverannahra, the core of the Tamerlan empire, he is an unconditional hero; For Afghans, Indians, Caucasian peoples, an unconditional villain.
