The book is a collection of essays that reveal the meaning and nature of classic Jewish texts against the backdrop of philosophy (from Plato to Derrida), poetry (from Goethe and Pushkin to Mandelstam and Pasternak) and Hellenistic Jewish exegetes (Philon of Alexandria, etc.). The author is trying to bring the Talmud closer to the reader, to make it an element of modern artistic thinking.
