In Russian literature of the 19th century, samples of the precious genre are generously scattered. The most famous – belong to the pen of the classics: Zhukovsky, Aksakov, Pushkin, Ershov … but no less vivid was created by writers, whose names are undeservedly forgotten. Our publication returns some wonderful fairy tales created by Akhsharumov, Zhelikhovskaya, Zasodim, Char and others.
“A rare fairy tale does not contain a serious, instructive meaning, even sometimes in addition to the will of its author …” said Nikolai Leskov. The writers of the 19th century mastered this genre in rivalry with a folk tale. They generously borrowed all the rare properties of oral creativity – its brevity, brightness and imagery, at the same time using the achievements of the European literary fairy tale. In this unspoken competition, which lasted a whole century, there was one winner – a domestic reader.
