The novel “Summer of the Lord” is the most famous work of I. S. Shmelev (1873-1950). In it, the author recreates a family way and household details of the life of pre -revolutionary Russia. The writer, publicist, Orthodox thinker, Shmelev carefully describes the inner world of the Russian man, imbued with the Christian spirit.
The illustrations of the artist Natalya Isicheva convey the world, seen by the eyes of a little boy, on the behalf of which the narrative is being conducted. The interior design of the book, sending the reader to simple patriarchal images, draws attention.
