This book is a fixed edition of a two -volume folklore songs of prisoners published in 2001. Materials include dozens of new records of prison folklore, as well as texts extracted from rare publications and archives. Most songs reflect the song traditions of prisoners in Soviet prisons and camps. However, the popularity of songs suggests that the views expressed in them were known in Russia. And therefore, songs can serve as a source for studying the attitude to the authorities of not only prisoners, but also a significant part of the Russian Russian -speaking population.
