The real collection included two novels by I. A. Goncharov – “Oblomov” and “Ordinary History”, in which the talent of the writer, who managed to capture the amazing, paradoxical type of Russian person, was most fully revealed. Merezhkovsky wrote: “Each of the characters created by Goncharov is an ideal generalization of human nature. A hidden idea raises small details of everyday life unattainable, makes them beautiful and valuable.”
Goncharov’s novels remain fascinating for modern readers; They are among the greatest works of not only domestic, but also world literature.
