The Silver Pigeon is the first large work of Andrei Bely, which has absorbed all the strength and brilliance of his poetry, original in form and content. The fate and character of the protagonist, Peter Daryalsky, the tragedy of his love and the desire to comprehend the “heart of the deaf” of the Russian people are very indicative for the spiritual searches of the beginning of the last century. The eternal confrontation of the West and East, the mind and feelings, enlightened science and folk beliefs are most pronounced in the work of the so -called “younger symbolists” and, first of all, in the creations of their most striking representatives: Alexander Blok and Andrei Bely.
