The author of the book has been associated with Japan for many years, in which he worked for about ten years as an APN correspondent. He graduated from the Moscow Institute of Oriental Studies, but almost all his life was engaged in international journalism. The author visited different countries of the world on five continents, including little studied Oceania states. By the nature of his work, he happened to meet so many famous figures, both in the USSR and abroad – politicians, diplomats, military, athletes, scientists and astronauts. Undoubted interest can arouse his memories of the work of Soviet representative offices in Japan and New Zealand. The historical background of this book is the violent and dramatic life of Soviet people, starting from the 30s of the last century, up to the birth of a new state – democratic Russia. For the first time, some facts are opened in the book, which for many years were carefully hidden by Soviet censorship.
