The monograph by the famous fortification historian – Doctor of Historical Sciences K. S. Nosov – is devoted to the study of medieval Russian fortification from the 9th to the end of the XVII century. The work summarizes the archaeological material, the information of written sources, iconography and the work of modern researchers are analyzed.
