The perception of poetry in the last two centuries fluctuates between the two abysses – or from a certain point, all of it will be given to such an extra -fiber education as a “lyrical poem”, or in each text only individual and original is seen. The monograph by V. I. Kozlova offers the middle version, which allows you to see poetry in its infinite diversity. The researcher offers a systematic approach to the element genre, showing that this genre not only did not die in the Pushkin era, but also actively developed in the last two centuries. In the approach to elegy, the emphasis in the work is not on the development of a single typological definition of the genre, but on the allocation of specific genre models. With this angle, the idea of elegy becomes as specific as possible, and Elegy itself appears as a very diverse phenomenon, which cannot be approached with a single measurement.
