Roman Borisovich Gul (1896-1986) lived a bright, eventful life. A participant in the “Ice campaign” of General Kornilov, then an emigrant, he became abroad a famous writer, one of the most influential Russian journalists, the founder and editor-in-chief of the “new magazine” (New York). Its autobiographical, documentary and memoirs are translated into many languages of the world. The volume presents the book of documentary essays “Red Marshals”, dedicated to the life and activities of M. N. Tukhachevsky, K.E. Boroshilova, V.K. Bluchera and G.I. Kotovsky, as well as historical portraits of famous figures of the Cheka-GPU-NKVD F.E. Dzerzhinsky, V. R. Menzhinsky, G. G. Yagoda.
