The work investigated the processes of the residence of Turkish prisoners of war in the territory of modern Belgorod and Kursk regions (as well as parts of the Sumy region of Ukraine) in the 18th – early 20th centuries.
On extensive documentary material extracted from the funds of 18 domestic and foreign archives, the central place and the leading role of the Belgorod-Kursk region are justified in resolving issues related to the placement of the Ottoman captives; The nature and features of their evacuation, internation, rapatriation and naturalization are largely recreated.
The book is addressed to both historical specialists and those who are interested in the problems of military captivity and the past of the Belgorod-Kursk region.
