As you know, the Korean press is relatively young – it is a little over 100 years old. She was born on the very eve of the 20th century, and her whole story is surprisingly connected with this century, with its dark and bright pages. In recent decades, researchers regularly write about the difficult fate of the Korean press, about its features, its historical character and at the same time draw very curious conclusions. They write, for example, that it was from journalism that many famous, talented figures of modern Korean history – politics, scientists, writers, fighters for freedom and democracy came out. On the pages of print media, on radio and television, these figures informed Koreans about events in the country and abroad, introduced them to Western culture and civilization.
