Alexey Koltsov (1809-1842), Russian poet. Born in the family of the Voronezh tradesman. The influence of the poet was the influence of V.G. Belinsky: He contributed to the formation of his worldview. The talent of a self-taught poet was warmly supported by A.S. Pushkin, I.A. Krylov, P.A. Vyazemsky, V.F. Odoevsky. Contemporaries were attracted by the deep nationality of Koltsov’s poems. Dobrolyubov noted that his songs “… made up a very special, new genus of poetry with us … Koltsov was the first to represent in his songs a real Russian person, the real life of our commoners as it is, without inventing anything.” His fresh and bright language absorbed the wealth of folk-sand creativity. Many songs and poems of Koltsov are laid to music.
