The brightest and most ambiguous of the “small” works of Dostoevsky. They are performed by bitter irony or cruel sarcasm. In them, as a scalpel, a pen of the great Russian writer knows neither pity nor mercy.
The passionate and fierce “player” is a small novel in which, nowhere else in Dostoevsky’s work, autobiographical and confessional motives are strong.
Sarcastic, satirical “Uncle Dream”, in which critics have not once seen the features of roll calls with Gogol.
And finally, the tragic and mocking “bad joke”, which reflected the features of the early poetry of the writer’s work.
