The book of Rollo May (1909-1994), the leading representative of American existential psychology, is dedicated to Paul Johannes Tillich, Theologian and the Philosopher, the Mentor and Friend of the author. Based on many years of experience in communication with Tillich, the materials provided by his widow, as well as on his works and reasoning of his contemporaries, May draws a portrait of Tillich: dwells on the events that determined his biography, analyzes the most important concepts of his teachings, considers his personality (including from an existential point of view). Through the book, the idea of the inextricable connection of the philosophy of Tillich with life in its various manifestations passes through the book; An example of this, according to the author, was the personality and fate of the scientist himself.
