The book of the famous Soviet writer Anatoly Veniaminovich Kalinin (1916-2008) included the novel “Forbidden Zone” on the construction of the Volga-Don Canal and two novels, “Echo of War” and “There is no return”, revealing the organic connection between the daily labor of the Donetsk residents and their recent heroic past during the Great Patriotic War. The last of them about how the Cossack and the collective farm foreman Antonina Kashirina, who found herself in the occupied territory and sheltered the wounded Red Army officer, was forced to answer before the harsh law, was filmed in 1973, director Alexei Saltykov, in the main roles: Nona Mordyukova, Vladislav Dvorzhetsky, Nikolai Eremenko.
