Motives of Russian architecture: Natalia Mayorova

Architecture is an art of special kind. It creates a habitat for a person, that is, it is intended not only for admiring, but also for everyday life, convenience and comfort. Life in a harmonious environment lifts the soul, raising imperceptibly and unobtrusively. To create a work of art that would meet these goals is a very difficult task. The creations of wonderful architects who managed to solve it are worthy of considering them again and again. The beautifully decorated human journal “Motives of Russian Architecture”, published from 1873 to 1880, gave those who took it in their hands, such an opportunity. He published projects and sketches of residential buildings, public buildings, furniture and decor created by followers of the so -called “Russian style” in the architecture of the second half of the 19th century. This style was based on the traditions of folk culture, reviving ancient techniques and motives of Russian architecture.
