This publication represents the Flemish and Dutch fine art of the 17th century – the “Golden Age” of Dutch painting. The set of personalities is very extensive and includes, in addition to the great and famous, many artists, whose names, as they say, are not in hearing. The description of their works focuses on the originality of the theme and artistic manner. When counting on a wide range of readers, the authors set themselves not so much art history as cultural and educational tasks, including the necessary historical references, biographical information, as well as comments-clarifications to popular biblical, mythological and allegorical plots.
