Russia. The second half of the nineteenth century. The famous Russian novelist Nina Ligova, writing under the pseudonym, Mr. Apostolsky, lives in Odessa. Fate reduces her with the rich Greek collector of Antiques Anastasi, whom Nina suspects of smuggling.
