Russia. The second half of the nineteenth century. The famous Russian novelist Nina Ligova, writing under the pseudonym, Mr. Apostolsky, lives in Odessa. Fate reduces her with the rich Greek collector of Antiques Anastasi, whom Nina suspects of smuggling. But soon the incident reveals her the true face of her lover – he supplies the weapon to the Greek fighters for independence from the English protectorate. However, happiness does not last long – having gone once again to his homeland with his deadly cargo, Anastasi dies. Nina in despair, from depression, she is saved only by a letter from St. Petersburg from her husband, with whom they are officially not divorced, but they have been lying separately for a long time. Ligov tells his wife that their daughter is getting married, and Nina must come to accompany her daughter down the aisle. But instead of joy, a whole chain of tragic events falls on the family of the Ligovs, and everyone needs a ghost of the Greek lover of Nina … only in the final of the novel, where three main characters will meet – Nina, her husband and her pushed …
