Confucius (Kun Tsu) is an ancient Chinese thinker. His teaching, later called Confucianism, had a huge impact on the spiritual and political development of China and all of East Asia, and from the 17th century. Its spread began in Western Europe.
The foundations of Confucianism are set out by the students of the thinker in the collection of aphorisms, dialogs and notes, called “judgment and conversation (Lun-yu).”
Pavel Stepanovich Popov translated into Russian in 1910, the largest Russian Chinesist of his time, a translator of many works of ancient Chinese philosophers and the compiler of the Russian-Chinese dictionary, who served in the diplomatic mission in Beijing.
