“I” and “it”. Selected works: Sigmund Freud

The works of the great Austrian psychiatrist and neurologist Sigmund Freud (1853-1939), including “Introduction to Psychoanalysis”, “Interpretation of Dreams”, “Totem and Tabu” and many others, had a huge impact not only on the development of science, but also on literature and art of the 20th century. The innovative for his time Freud’s views allowed him to call him an outstanding researcher of human mental life. Being influenced by the ideas of such philosophers and thinkers as C. Darwin, E. Haeckel, A. Shopenhauer, F. Nietzsche, Freud developed an original and unnoticed method of treatment – psychoanalysis. He described the specific phases of the psychosexual development of the personality, the theory of the Edipov complex, the concept of “unconscious”, and also developed a three-component structural model of the psyche, according to the scientist, consisting of “it”, “I” and “Super-I”.
