Konstantin Petrovich Pobedonostsev (1827-1907), chief prosecutor of the Holy Synod, was one of the most noticeable figures in the political and public life of the Russian Empire of the second half of the 19th century. Before him they bowed, he was blessed, extolled and hated just as passionately. Some in it saw an angel -saving of Russia, others – its evil genius.
The firm and indefatigable defender of the indestructible union of autocracy and the Church, a brilliant publicist, a subtle polemicist, a person who possessed remarkable charisma, will and great power of persuasion, was K.P. Pobedonostsev. He did not let anything on his own, he kept everything in the field of his vigilant attention, up to the point that he personally followed the repertoire of theaters, exhibitions, the work of libraries and folk readers.
The intellectual heritage of K.P. Pobedonostsev is truly huge. His most vivid works, many of which the modern reader will meet for the first time, made this richly illustrated gift edition.
