Aivazovsky could write a marine landscape in just a few hours: he was born in the Black Sea city of Feodosia and remembered each overflow of light in the waves. Here he lived, abandoning the career of a “court painter”, and until the end of the days he was happy, meeting with friends, students and fans of his amazing talent. He wrote the works telling about the “calm sea” with a special feeling of peace and peace. The English artist William Turner, shocked by his poetic landscapes, once wrote enthusiastic lines: “Your work has fascinated me, and delight took possession of me. Your art is high and powerful, because you were inspired by a genius!”
