“Artist of the Sea” – this is the name of the contemporaries of Alexander Karlovich Beggrov (1841-1914). Once he met Bogolyubov, who worked as the chief artist of the naval department, and soon began to work with him. Beggrov traveled a lot around the world, and his “sea impressions” became excellent canvases in which he showed his delight before the indomitable elements of the sea and sailors who performed his daily heroic work. He also wrote urban landscapes: a series of species of St. Petersburg liked the admirers of his talent. The artist-steering, he stood at the origins of the creation of the Society of Russian Watercolors. And at the end of his life, he sacrificed a large sum of the money of the Academy of Arts – to help “poor artists, their widows and orphans.”
