The second volume of the “folk demonology of Polesie” continues the four -volume publication of field materials on folk demonology from Ukrainian and Belarusian Polesie, as well as the South Russian regions adjacent to it. The book contains an extensive body of mythological texts recorded in the 80-90s. XX century. Polesie ethnolinguistic expedition. The presented materials are equipped with a detailed scientific comment and reference apparatus. The second volume of the publication included the texts containing the mythologized posthumous hypostases of a person (soul, deceased, souls of ancestors), as well as about mythological characters originating from the “unclean” dead, which are children who died unbaptized, suicides, “walking” dead and mermaids.
The book is intended for folklorists, culturalists, ethnographers, anthropologists and everyone who is interested in the Slavic traditional culture.
