A collection entitled “The Enchanted Island. New Tales of Italy” was conceived by the Gorky Association in connection with the 100th anniversary of the first publication of “Tales of Italy” by Maxim Gorky. Capri always attracted creative people, and the association decided to contribute to the literary history of the Island of Siren. During 2012-2013 A number of famous Russian writers were invited to make a trip to Capri and then write a text related to this island. The compiler of the collection was the famous Italianist and translator Gennady Kiselev, whose pen owns the introductory essay. As a result, the largest modern authors (from Maxim Amelin to Vladimir Sorokin) are presented in this book that are very different in genre and style works that are united by one source of inspiration – the magical island of Capri.
