Our contemporary, Alexei Terekhin, an officer of the Feldyger service, after the disaster of the passenger aircraft becomes the owner of an unusual artifact, with the help of which he falls into ancient Byzantium. Thanks to the officer training from the camp mercenary, he becomes a tribune, the commander of the chiliarchy, passing through all the hierarchical steps of the army.
