The name of the Grand Duke of Moscow Dmitry Ivanovich, nicknamed Donskoy (1350-1389), was forever connected with a great victory in the Kulikovo field, which laid the foundation for the liberation of Rus’ from the power of the Horde khans. That is why the personality of the prince himself is extremely mythologized in our minds: the place of a real politician with all his advantages and disadvantages was taken by a certain image of an invincible commander and a saint wholed by the Church. But in history, everything is much more complicated. The author of the book, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor Nikolai Sergeyevich Borisov, tells about his hero with maximum detail and objectivity, attracting all historical sources to date and restoring the complex and diverse picture of the life of the second half of the XIV century.
