Giovanni Bokkaccio (1313-1375) is an Italian humanist writer of the early Renaissance, reflecting in his works not only the multicolor panorama of Italian customs, but also the concept of the social ethics of the new society. Boccaccio’s work had a great influence on the further development of realism not only in the literature of the Renaissance, but later – in the XVII and XVIII centuries.
The first volume of the chosen works of the writer included “Decameron” (days 1-5) – the most significant book of Bokkaccio, consisting of living, fascinating short stories that young people who left for a country estate tell from the plague who have been fading in Florence for ten days.
