Over the past decades, a lot has been written about the Odessa period of life of the classic of Russian literature. However, the authors, as a rule, focused on life in the city of Bunin himself and his communication with friends and acquaintances, mostly from among local and arrived cultural figures, and of course, on the attitude of the writer to the revolution and Bolshevism, which, as you know, was extremely negative. However, the events of the social, political and military life of the region, mentioned in “cursed days” and diaries, mainly remained outside the publications. In this regard, the author seeks to at least partially fill out the above gap and explore some events of Odessa life, which were reflected in the notes of Bunin and his wife, as well as those to whom they, having left for exile, could no longer be witnesses.
