V. Novodvorsky – pseudonym for the famous domestic literary critic Vasily Vasilyevich Sipovsky (1872-1930). He graduated from the historical and philological faculty of St. Petersburg University and already in the first year he began his scientific and literary activity. Since 1899 he taught at high school; from 1910 to 1917 – at the highest female courses; Then he was a professor and vice -rector of the university in Baku. Since 1923 he was a full member of the Research Institute of Comparative Study of Literators and Languages of the West and East at LSU. Corresponding Member of the Academy of Sciences (since 1921). Sipovsky is the author of numerous textbooks and reader, as well as research on the history of Russian literature.
The novel “Crown in the Peaks to Valeta”, published in this volume, in an adventurous adventure form tells about the history of Russia’s sale of Alaska.
