The third and fourth volumes of the “complete collection of the creations of the Holy Fathers of the Church and church writers” are devoted to the theological heritage of St. Basil the Great, the Archbishop of Caesarea of the Cappadocian (330-379), and his contemporary and associate of St. Amphilocheus, Bishop of Ikoniy (340-394).
The Church has learned to St. Vasily the naming “Great” both for his highly retractable, crowned by holiness, and for the active church-teaching activity. Together with St. Athanasius of Alexandria (c. 295-373), the Mother of God Vasily had a decisive influence in the final victory over the Arian heresy (until this victory at the II Ecumenical Council in 381, the Caesarean saint did not live only two years). His works make a special contribution to the treasury of church legend, representing the best examples of patristic theology.
