The beginning of the first Chechen military campaign. The battalion of the 137th Guards Parachute-Passenger Regiment under the command of the Hero of Russia of the Guard of the lieutenant colonel Svyatoslav Golubyatnikov was thrown into the very pitch of war-on the station square of Grozny. In narrow quarters, flame is ragged, shells and mines explode, bullets whistle, metal breaks and burns. Officers with torn voices give commands, try to contact the high authorities and request support. The paratroopers, carrying losses, nevertheless continue to fight violently … They committed the impossible. They completed a combat mission without shaving the honor and valor of the Russian paratrooper. For the heroism shown, the entire (!!!) personnel of the battalion was presented for awarding the Order of Courage. Five officers were awarded the title of Hero of Russia. A similar mass, unanimous feat was recorded for the first time after the Great Patriotic War.
